Proposed Byelaw covering Junior Members
This byelaw will delete and substitute existing rule 15(f). The byelaw has been written in accordance with rule 7(b)(iii) and accordingly will be displayed for five days from the date of this notice before becoming part of the Club Constitution and Rules 2018.
The current rules state the following:
- CATEGORIES OF MEMBERS
Categories of Members of the Club shall be as below:
(f) Junior Members. Children aged over 12 years and under 18 years on the first day of September in the relevant year, who have been elected according to the Rules of the Club then in force and whose subscription is maintained.
The following will delete and substitute Rule 15(f):
(f) Junior Members. Children under 18 years on the first day of September in the relevant year, who have been elected according to the Rules of the Club then in force and whose subscription is maintained. Applications for Junior Membership require the permission of parents or guardians.
The Limitations of Entitlements of Members (Rule 18) remain unchanged.
The purposes of this change are:
- to allow children of any age under 18 years to join the club (with the permission of parents or guardians), thereby being covered by the club’s insurance policy when participating in sailing, boating, rowing and other activities organised by the club.
- to formalise the requirement that children under 18 require the permission of parents or guardians to join the club.

At the 2014 AGM new club rules were adopted. A copy of the Rules is available at the Club and is also available to download from here in PDF form. With the adoption of the new Club Rules and Constitution communications with Club Members will primarily be through the Club website and by email, you can keep up to date with new updates by checking in regularly on the website or ensuring we have the correct details on file for your membership account.
It is now the responsibility of the Member to keep the Club advised of their current email and postal address, you can inform the club of any changes to your contact details by sending them to email@example.com and we will update these in the system. Due to a change in membership subscription amounts in September 2016, it is now of paramount importance that we have an up to date email address on file for all Members in order to notify you of the new rates or any changes to membership as we will no longer be doing so by post. Please use the link above to update your details with us.
Members are able to pay for bar purchases with their membership card alone, cards may be pre-loaded with an amount of your choice at the bar only by cash or credit/debit card. This facility is not available on-line via your SmartClub Membership account.
If you would prefer to continue to receive AGM Notice and papers by post, please contact the membership team who will arrange for hard copies to be sent to you.
Club apparel from our suppliers can be ordered at the bar.
