Rowing

The present day rowing section at NBC was formed when in 1999 Ceibwr Rowing Club joined Newport Boat Club.

Our Celtic Longboats

There are presently three Celtic Longboats namely Tonnau, George Eves and Angharad D J.

These three vessels form the back bone of the traditional fixed seat rowing, however all types of rowing including kayaks and sliding seat are welcomed.

Training

Although rowing takes place all year round, March to October is the more active time with rowing taking place on most nights of the week. However Tuesday evenings (Club Night) is set aside for coaching, in particular for novices, juniors or anyone wishing to come along and have a go.

If you are keen and enjoy rowing, there are ample opportunities to row for leisure or to compete for the club in events. These are held up and down the Welsh coast and as far away as London, Ireland and even France.

New Members

We especially welcome new members and they should make themselves known to our Rowing Club Captain Pete Fletcher or head coach Lesley Fletcher (who can be contacted on 01239 881 295 or by email at penrallt.nursery@virgin.net).

Visitors are welcome but if you intend to row on a regular basis you should be a club members and a members of the Welsh Sea Rowing Association at an extra cost of £10.00.
